BOARD MINUTES – MARCH 11, 2019

The meeting was called to order at 4:03PM.  In attendance were Trustees Gabriel Asenas, Rita Rudkin and Lynda Edmonds.  Also in attendance were Manager, Doug Basolo and Manuel Minjares from Supervisor Long’s office, community members Oscar Vasquez, Robin Coert and Gabe Lopez.

PUBLIC COMMENT – Robin Coert who lives on property adjacent to the back of the cemetery spoke of his concerns of people using his orchard for a restroom and wondered if a portable toilet could be put in the back area as people do not come to the front of the cemetery to use the one there.  He would also like to see the back area of the cemetery improved and stated he would be interested in serving on the Board.  He also he would be willing to take extra dirt stockpiled for his orchard.

MINUTES – Rita moved the minutes of the regular meeting of February 25th and the special meeting of March 4th be approved as presented. Lynda made the 2nd and the motion passed.

FINANCIAL REPORT – We broke even for the months of January and February but we are still in the red approximately $37,000.

OLD BUSINESS

HOUSE – Still waiting on cost of replacing or repairing windows.

WEBSITE- Gabriel had gotten in touch with Tony Spore who did our original website and he is going to release the “Bardsdale Cemetery.net” to Brian Kraft so we will have the correct spelling on our current website.

BASOLO FINANCE PLAN – Gabriel would like to set up a separate account for the fees that are incurred at time of need so they would be available at that time and not spent when paid in order to avoid the situation we are in now when all fees were paid in past years at a lower rate and we are now doing some burials with no income.  He would like to talk to our accountant before a decision is made.  Gabe also proposed raising the Endowment Fee and the Double Stack.  Rita moved we increase these fees, Lynda made the 2nd and the motion passed.

TRUSTEE SEARCH – Manuel Minjares stated they were hoping to have interviews completed in the coming week.

MANAGER’S REPORT – Doug reported that so far in March we are at an income of $12,250. He ordered

6 vaults today and cancelled the uniforms.  The door lock has been re-keyed.

NEW BUSINESS

AMERICAN HERITAGE LANDSCAPE –  will start tomorrow, March 6th.

MEMORIAL DAY – Doug has contacted the usual people and Lynda has contacted Port Hueneme for a speaker.

EXECUTIVE SESSION – Discussion of revisions to Employee Handbook and Manuel Minjares will contact County HR to get their input so it can be adopted.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 4:50PM.
